The concept has become part of the Astronist philosophy of religion largely due to its ignition of the debate on the differences between inspired religions and revealed religions.

In the Astronist philosophy of religion, all religions are believed to have formed on either inspiration or revelation, the latter of which is most common in the Abrahamic tradition and in some strands of the Dharmic tradition.
